Ideal Carehomes Invite Communities To Enjoy Festive Lunch To Help Combat Loneliness

idealIdeal Carehomes’ staff and residents are getting ready to welcome the community for a festive lunch

All 15 Ideal care homes are hosting a Christmas lunch in December and inviting local older people who may be lonely or isolated.  It is estimated that for 17% of older people, contact with family, friends and neighbours is less than once a week, and this is especially difficult during the Christmas period.  Each care home is therefore inviting those who may feel isolated to join their residents to enjoy some quality time with likeminded people, participating in good old conversation and fun activities.

Allison Boyle, Regional Director for Ideal Carehomes, said, “We are always looking at ways to aid and integrate with the local community and we feel that providing a meal for people who may otherwise be lonely at Christmas would be a great benefit, giving them much needed company and joy during festive period.  Our residents really enjoy welcoming guests to their home and it is a great opportunity to make new friends and spread some Christmas joy!”

As well as the lunch, each home will also provide the opportunity for visitors to participate with the residents in various activities and there will also be entertainment.  There will be no charge for local, older people to attend, but places are strictly limited.

Ideal Carehomes provides high quality residential and dementia care in 15 homes across the North and Midlands.  They are committed to offering their residents aspirational lifestyle choices and an active social environment with events, trips and daily activities on offer.  If you would like to attend a Christmas lunch, or know someone who would benefit, please contact Ideal Carehomes on 0113 385 3885.
