Home Manager At Norwich Home Marks 22 Years Of Service
There was a great atmosphere at a Norwich home following the marking of 22 years of service for the home manager.
Jennifer Howes, home manager at MHA Cromwell House was treated to a small celebration from her colleagues to mark 22 years of service.
Jennifer joined the home in 2003 as a care assistant and has worked her way up through the ranks to senior carer, assistant manager and then into her current role as home manager in 2008.
She has always wanted to work in care but felt the ethos of MHA is what has kept her here all these years.
To mark the occasion, colleagues presented her with some flowers and a cake was prepared by the kitchen staff.
MHA Cromwell House provides residential and respite care for 38 residents.
Speaking after the celebrations Jennifer said:
“I remember being told about MHA Cromwell House by a flatmate.
“I came for an interview and immediately fell in love with the atmosphere and the home had a very nice feel to it.
“The route of progression for me was something that didn’t really interest me to the level that I have become.
“I never thought of myself as someone who would become a home manager but was keen to progress to a senior carer.
“I was often told by a lot of people that management would suit me, and then due to a change of circumstances at the home, I stepped up into the role and have been here ever since.
“Personally, I feel having that front line experience and still being hands on and getting stuck in is something that helps me as home manager.
“I can relate to my staff and having that knowledge and experience makes it easier.
“Working in care is tough, but I believe no other place of work is as fulfilling.
“It’s not easy, but you have to remind yourself you are making a difference all the time and our residents rely on us.
“Working during the pandemic was tough, but I feel it made us all very resilient and brought us all together.
