Hampshire Care Group Finalist For Prestigious Laingbuisson Awards 2019

A Hampshire-based care provider has been shortlisted for two prestigious industry awards.

Cornerstone Healthcare operates two specialist nursing homes; South Africa Lodge in Waterlooville and Kitnocks House in Curdridge. The homes care for people with challenging behaviours associated with complex neurological, physical and mental health needs.

The group is shortlisted for Management Excellence and Specialist Care Provider in the LaingBuisson Awards 2019 which celebrate distinction and innovation across care homes in the UK.

The achievement comes just 12 months after the group acquired the company.

“This year LaingBuisson received over 400 entries and we are delighted to be named finalists in such a huge group of care home operators,” said CEO, Johann van Zyl.

“It’s a testament to the dedication of our teams – from cleaning, admin and maintenance staff to general managers. All has a role to play in our residents’ care and the success of Cornerstone Healthcare. Dara Ní Ghadhra, our COO and Jens Kleyenstuber our FD, are phenomenal leaders that managed to take all our staff on this journey of brilliance.”

Cornerstone Healthcare is the only operator in the south east of England offering specialist nursing care for people with challenging behaviours as a result of neurological or mental health needs.

The Executive Management has been shortlisted for its Management Excellence in transforming the company’s nursing homes into services of excellence with the aim to grow its bed numbers from 154 to 500 in the next four years through a “buy and build” strategy.

In the Specialist Category, Cornerstone Healthcare has been shortlisted because of their improvements in the health and wellbeing of residents’ lives when they move into one of the services after their previous placements have broken down. It also has a 360-degree approach to care, which sees everyone trained in managing challenging behaviours to serve residents with compassion and knowledge.

“Our teams work so hard and we are very proud of them,” said Johann. “Few homes have the nursing capability to give people with complex and mental health needs the quality of life they enjoy here but we can and it would be wonderful to have that level of dedication and care recognised.”

Cornerstone Healthcare will know if it has been successful when the winners are announced on Wednesday 13th November 2019 in London.
