Hallmark Care Homes Awarded Second ‘Outstanding’ CQC rating

Kew House Care Home in Wimbledon has become the second Hallmark care home to receive an ‘Outstanding’ rating from the Care Quality Commission.

The health watchdog gave residential, nursing and dementia home the maximum overall rating putting it in a small percentage of care homes across the country to achieve this high standard.

The report praised the home’s team for their ‘exceptional performance’ and out of five key areas reviewed, four of the five were rated ‘Outstanding’ whilst the other was rated as ‘Good.’

The home was rated as ‘Outstanding’ in the areas of ‘caring’, ‘effective’ ‘responsive’ and ‘well led’ and ‘Good’ for its service being ‘safe.’

The planned inspection took place on 29th July and the report that was published on 30th December said: “People received good, effective care and support from a highly skilled staff team.

“People had access to a wide range of activities which enabled them to live fulfilled and active lives.

“The service was well-led by a management team whose determination and drive was to deliver an outstanding service, leading by example, fully committed to quality and placing people at the heart of everything they did.”

One relative was also quoted in the report, they said: “My relative was happier at Kew House after moving there for the last 10 months of his life than he has been in many years. We valued the cheerful atmosphere, the quality of staff, care and activities, as well as the respect and dignity given to all residents. It meant a lot to me and our family to see him happy and comfortable for the end stage of his life.”

General Manager at Kew House, Yetty Adepegba said: “I am incredibly delighted that we have been recognised as an outstanding home by the CQC.

“This is a wonderful achievement for the home and the whole team and is testament to fantastic teamwork across all team members, residents and their relatives.

“We will continue to work together to maintain this excellent standard and appreciate everyone’s support and input.”
