Golf Day In Aid Of Workington Home Raises Over £700
A golf day arranged by a local business managed to raise more than £700 for a Workington home.
The Big Golf Company held a fundraiser at Seascale Golf Club in a bid to raise funds for MHA Amathea.
The day was packed full of golf related competitions, with the entry fees totalling £750 being donated to the home.
The money raised will go towards the home renovating their garden space.
The Big Golf Company arranges global luxury golf tours for people of all abilities.
The mother-in-law of the CEO, Chris North is a resident at the home, which is what led to the day being in aid of the home.
MHA Amathea provides residential and dementia care for 40 residents.
Cheryl Taylor, home manager said:
”Being one of many care homes in the area, we are very grateful for the support and really appreciate it.
“The funds will enable us to completely renovate our garden space and plant some sensory and herb plants.
“We received some feedback from residents and their loved ones relating to having more outdoor garden space, so with summer on the way, it’s the perfect time to get going.
“On behalf of everyone at the home, I want to thank Chris and his team, including his children who helped out on the day, for their support and can’t wait to see the end result of the garden.”
Chris added: “We chose MHA Amathea as our designated charity for the golf day because my 91-year-old mother-in-law, who has dementia, is a resident there.
“Every time we visit, we’re struck by the kindness of the residents and the dedication of the staff, they truly go above and beyond in their care and support.
“At The Big Golf Company, we’re passionate about supporting our local community, including golf clubs and emerging talent across Cumbria.
“It felt only right to give something back to the care home that does so much for so many”.
