Generous Donation To Mencap From Goodwins Hall

The residents and team at Goodwins Hall Care Home in Kings Lynn have once again showcased their commitment to the local community by donating the proceeds of the annual Christmas fayre to Mencap in Kings Lynn.

With over £270 raised, the donation is set to make a significant difference in supporting individuals with learning disabilities in the area.

Local Mencap Chairman Peter Brown took the time to visit the home this week, sharing tea and conversation with the residents while shedding light on the invaluable work carried out by Mencap. As a charity run solely by volunteers, Mencap relies heavily on donations to continue its vital services, including adult and children’s clubs in the town, a befriender scheme, and organized outings aimed at combating isolation and loneliness.

Goodwins Hall resident, Barry, reminisced with Peter about his past involvement with Mencap and expressed his excitement at the prospect of reuniting with the group for outings, including a trip to watch Kings Lynn Town play football.

The residents also remembered the Christmas event which raised the funds, where they came together with their loved ones and the local community for a jolly celebration. From stalls adorned with crafts to exciting games and even a visit from Santa himself, the Christmas fayre was enjoyed by all.

Mr Brown expressed his gratitude for the donation, saying, “Mencap extend their thanks to Goodwins Hall for their generosity and for considering us as beneficiaries of the Christmas event.

“The donation will undoubtedly go a long way in enhancing the lives of those supported by Mencap in Kings Lynn, ensuring they have access to essential services and opportunities for social engagement.”
