Fundraising Is A Piece Of Cake For New Century Care

New Century Care are celebrating after raising over £1300 for the 2.5 million people living with cancer across the UK.

All 21 of New Century Care care homes opened their doors to the local community to host a coffee morning where residents, staff and guests came together to enjoy a delicious selection of homemade cakes and snacks, washed down by a mug of coffee – with all proceeds going towards Macmillan.

Some homes went the extra mile by baking some beautiful cakes, which wouldn’t be out of place on the Great British Bake Off, before auctioning them off to the highest bidder.

Macmillan organises the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning every year to encourage people to raise funds for people living with cancer. Since the first coffee morning in 1990, over £165.5 million has been raised for the charity.

Phil Smith, CEO at New Century Care said:

“ Everyone at New Century Care were eager to take part in The World’s Largest Coffee Morning. The charity do some fantastic work in supporting people with cancer – from the point of diagnosis through to treatment – so we are absolutely delighted to have raised over £1300 to help them in this work.

“ The coffee morning was also a great way for us to encourage closer links between our residents and the local community. It was a fantastic day, enjoyed by all!”
