Freshly Hatched Chicks Steal the Limelight at Aria Court

A project designed to bring the outside in has proven a resounding success at Aria Court Care Home, in Fenland.

The team at the March care home, part of the Athena Care Homes group, wanted to give residents a chance to see spring in action, so they set up an incubator in their activities room.

Within a matter of days the first chicks began to hatch out, much to the delight of the residents who were eager to meet the new arrivals and watch them grow.

Kanina O’Neil, Lifestyle Co-ordinator, said: “The idea came about as we were looking for ways to bring the outside in.

“We thought it would be an exciting experience for our residents and when we suggested it during our community meeting they were all very enthusiastic about the idea.”

Residents drop in and see the chicks daily, and they proving a popular attraction at the home.
