Forget Storm Dennis, Volunteers And Residents Bake Up A Storm At Connors House
Connors House Residential Care Home residents proved baking was a piece of cake this week, as they whipped up a batch of homemade scones.
With the help of a couple of Occupational Health student volunteers, residents of the Craddock Road residential care home had a grate time making some delicious cheese scones from scratch.
Armed with their pinnies and ingredients, the amateur bakers spent a morning getting to know the volunteers, as they helped one another with the task at hand. Delighted with their efforts once cooked, the residents enjoyed tucking into their warm homemade scones spread with butter and a cup of tea on the side.
Christine Devlin, General Manager of Connors House commented: “Our residents really enjoy their regular baking activity, some of them used to cook a lot in their younger days and one even worked in a bakers, so it is a really nostalgic activity for them. It’s amazing what they can remember about a recipe!
“It was lovely for the student volunteers to join in too, the residents thoroughly enjoyed getting to know them and are looking forward to seeing them during their next visit.”
