Fond Farewells For Long-Serving Staff At Moray Care Homes
Three Moray care homes have bid farewell to long-serving employees who are retiring after collectively clocking up over 45 years of service.
At Wakefield House in Cullen, carer and occasional cook Carol King retired after 28 years of dedicated service, with residents and staff throwing her a lively retirement party.
Carol said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my job in care here at Wakefield and I have seen a lot of changes and met a lot of people in 28 years. It hasn’t quite sunk in yet that I have no formal work anymore, but I have had a blast and I want to thank everyone for planning a fantastic party. I shall be back again to visit you all.”
Meanwhile Forbes Milne – known to staff and residents as Fobie – has retired after over 10 years as a maintenance worker at Glenisla in Keith. With help from his wife Kate and granddaughter Kari, the Glenisla team threw a surprise party for Fobie. There was a double celebration as the party was held on his 75th birthday.
Glenisla manager Brenda Harper said:
“Fobie has been a part of the Glenisla family for over 10 years and is a valued member of the team. He has always gone above and beyond to help the team, any time of the day or night. Given his double celebration we really wanted to give him the special send-off that he deserved. Fobie wanted to go quietly but we had other ideas! Thankfully, he has promised to visit us regularly during his retirement.”
Finally, Joan McPherson, a carer at Weston View in Keith has also retired after a long career in social care, including seven years at the home. To mark the occasion, her colleagues threw her a party where she was presented with a caricature of herself.
Beth Morrison, a Shift Leader at Weston View, said:
“We will miss Joan’s cheery face at Weston View. We hope she enjoys being a lady of leisure. She deserves it after all her hard work and commitment.”
