Expert Comment – Response To Budget 2015

Dr Chris Handy, Chief Executive of Housing and Social Care provider, the Accord Group, responds to today’s Budget.

He said: “Whilst we share the Government’s vision to reduce the numbers of people on benefits, the way it is being tackled is seeing our poorest and most vulnerable customers being plummeted further into poverty as a result.  We need housing benefit that genuinely protects customers struggling to make ends meet, else  we could see more of them being forced into homelessness. This in turn could end up costing the taxpayer even more than they save.”
