The award winning Evolve Care Group are celebrating scoring their second Outstanding rating by CQC in less than a month and are planning on passing the baton to all of their homes.
The group have developed a pioneering model of dementia care which they are rolling out across their 12 nursing and care homes in England and Wales.
CEO, Preyen Dewani, a former National Care Entrepreneur of the Year winner, told us “Our Evolve Household model of care was developed by our team of specialists who researched practices in Australia and the USA. The model aims to create a homely, domestic environment for everyone living at their homes, who are referred to as “family members”. The care team do not wear uniforms as these can confuse people with dementia and detract from the feeling that a family member is living at home. This is especially important at night when the sight of uniforms can inhibit the sleep patterns of those living with dementia.”
Following a rigorous, two day inspection with five Inspectors, the CQC found that at Heanton, a 53 bed nursing home near Barnstaple, “People received outstanding care and were supported to have the best quality of life possible.” Less than 2% of all the homes inspected in England achieve the Outstanding rating. The report praised the staff, stating that the carers created a friendly, caring atmosphere for those with dementia and other symptoms of illness.
The manager of Heanton, Paula Mascall, said “We strive hard to make the lives of those living with us, the best possible. The home prides itself on providing a bespoke service. We familiarise ourselves with all the family members’ preferences by knowing their individual life histories. I want to pass my thanks and congratulations onto the incredible care team we have here”.
Evolve Care Group is rolling out a £75m growth strategy and has already invested over £1.5 million, developing its pioneering new model of care for those living with dementia. The group is on the look out for acquisition and new development opportunities.
