Ena Celebrates Her Century In Style

Ena-Celebrates-Her-Century-In-StyleA resident at a Newcastle care home has celebrated her 100th birthday in style with family and friends, as well as receiving recognition from the Queen.

Margaret Richley, known as Ena, received a telegram and card from the Queen and celebrated the milestone at Wheatfield Court care home, which is based in Westerhope and part of Akari Care, where she has been a resident since 2013.

Ena, who was born in Consett, worked as a children’s nurse. She married her husband, Francis, in 1947 and the pair’s son, Francis, was born in 1950. She was also an active member of her community and her local church, Blucher Methodist Church.

Barbara Davies, home manager, said: “Ena’s birthday celebration was a fantastic occasion, which was enjoyed by all the staff, residents and her family. She has achieved so much in her life and still remains part of the local community, which she has dedicated and given so much of her time to.

“Ena is a pleasure to have at Wheatfield Court and we would like to wish her all the best after celebrating such a significant milestone
