Dr Pete Calveley Is HealthInvestor Power List Winner
For the fifth time, Barchester Healthcare’s CEO, Dr Pete Calveley, has been honoured at the HealthInvestor Power List award ceremony. Dr Calveley was named the winner in the Elderly Care Leader category at the awards which are judged by an independent panel of industry experts.
The HealthInvestor Power List celebrates the most effective, inspiring and influential leaders across key aspects of independent healthcare. Health and social care providers operate in undeniably tough trading conditions and growing companies in this environment require a resilient, visionary and pragmatic leader. The HealthInvestor Power List Elderly Care Leader prize is given in recognition of the chief executive who encapsulates these qualities and more, and has steered their company most successfully through the year.
Dr Pete Calveley has been honoured with this award for his exemplary leadership. A prominent figure in the health and social care industry for over 30 years, Dr Calveley is a pioneer in the sector and has used his expertise to lead Barchester Healthcare from strength to strength for over a decade.
Dr Pete Calveley comments: “I am incredibly proud to have led Barchester for the last 11 years and I am absolutely delighted with what we, as a team of 18,500+ people, have achieved together. To go from just one care home in 1992 to the 268 we are currently operating represents phenomenal growth. We have opened five new homes this year alone.
“Every day our exceptional teams strive to provide a premium, person-centred caring experience for our 13,800 residents and patients. It is never about one person’s achievement but about what we achieve as a team. When I joined the business, our Good or Outstanding ratings were at just 40%, now we are at 90.5% Good or Outstanding with zero homes rated Inadequate and 14 rated Outstanding (or equivalent) which makes me immensely proud.
“How our business is perceived by all our key stakeholders is incredibly important to me, I am delighted to say that we have a very healthy +71 Customer Net Promoter Score which shows how satisfied our residents and relatives are with the care they and their loved ones receive. We have a staff Net Promoter Score of +50.7 which shows how happy and motivated our employees are working for Barchester. Our average review score on Google is 4.7 out of 5 and our average Carehome.co.uk score is 9.7 out of 10. All of these measures show just how well we are delivering across the entire business.
