Daughter Raises More Than £1,300 For Roxburgh House Care Home In Memory Of Beloved Mum

Residents and colleagues at Roxburgh House Care Home in Cradley Heath are celebrating the generosity of a former resident’s family after an incredible £1,343.68 was raised to support activities and entertainment at the home.

Michelle Masters organised a fundraising campaign in memory of her mother, Yvonne Masters, following the compassionate care she received during her time at Roxburgh House.

Through a GoFundMe page and donations collected at Yvonne’s funeral, Michelle raised £1,343.68, which she has asked to be used to provide additional entertainment for residents.

Yvonne became a resident at Roxburgh House in February 2024, where she lived on the home’s dementia community after being diagnosed with advanced dementia. As her condition progressed, colleagues remained dedicated to providing compassionate, person-centred care that respected her dignity, comfort and individuality.

Throughout her mother’s stay, Michelle was a regular visitor and developed a close relationship with the team at Roxburgh House. Following Yvonne’s passing in June 2026, she wanted to give something back to the home in recognition of the exceptional care, kindness and support shown to both her mother and the wider family.

Michelle also wanted to highlight her appreciation for the care team and senior members of the team at Roxburgh House, who she said went above and beyond to support Yvonne and provide reassurance to her family during a difficult time.

Michelle expressed how much it meant to her that Sean Smith, Deputy Home Manager at Roxburgh House, attended Yvonne’s funeral, reflecting the special relationship that had been built between the family and the home.

The funds raised will help create more memorable experiences for residents through entertainment and activities, providing a fitting tribute to Yvonne, who loved music, parties and was always the first person on the dance floor.

Michelle Masters said: “The care, compassion and dedication shown by everyone at Roxburgh House, especially the care team and senior members of the team, meant so much to our family. They always treated Mum with kindness, dignity and respect, while also supporting us during an incredibly difficult time.

We will always be grateful for the way they cared for Mum and the reassurance they gave us as a family. Knowing how much Mum loved a good party and getting up to dance, I wanted the money raised in her memory to be used to bring joy and entertainment to the residents. I hope it helps create many happy memories for everyone at the home.”
