Residents, their families, staff, visitors and people from the local community all attended the world’s biggest coffee morning events, which were held at the homes, which are located in the Nab Wood area near Shipley.
Julie Tipling, who is the activity coordinator at Fairmount Nursing Home, says: “We raised £182 at Fairmount and £130 at Staveley and everyone had such a great time. We did an old fashioned afternoon tea theme with cake stands, matching tablecloths and tableware.
“Airedale Funeral (Coop) Shipley kindly donated many cakes and buns for our event, and a special thanks must go to our volunteer Hazel Gale, who worked extremely hard serving a wonderful afternoon tea and cakes. We also had raffles, a quiz and music, and I would like to personally thank everybody for their tasty cake contributions and generous donations.”
Czajka’s managing director Konrad Czajka says: “The world’s biggest coffee morning sees people all over the country hold coffee mornings on the same day.
“Its Macmillan Cancer Support’s biggest charity fundraising event and the coffee morning has already raised over £8.5 million for the charity.
“We were keen to do our bit and support such a fantastic charity, and Julie, along with Andy Holmes, Mark Emmett, Hazel Betts, Bob Shedd and Joanne Cornwall, all worked together as a team to create two really special events.”
