Crookham Care Home Celebrates Sixth Birthday With Fourth Of July Themed Party
On Saturday 4th July, Gracewell of Church Crookham celebrated the home’s sixth birthday with a party. The party was Fourth of July themed, with residents and the team dressing up for the occasion.
The in-house dining team prepared a selection of food for the party, served on American flag plates. They even made a spectacular themed birthday cake.
Cindy Brock who is a Hostess at Gracewell of Church Crookham joined the care home six years ago. She said:
“I came to Gracewell of Church Crookham to help support older people, but I never realised how invested I would get. I just love the residents. I love being able to sit down and just have a chat. I think I get as much out of it as they do.
“It was very emotional to be part of the six-year celebration. Part of my role here is to really get to know the residents and their individual needs. I have built strong relationships with many residents. It is lovely knowing I might have made a positive difference to their life here.”
“Before Gracewell of Church Crookham was this wonderful care home, the building was a night club. I used to work on the bar there. I also did gymnastics as a child in this building. Something keeps pulling me back here!”
Jenny Walker, Home Administrator at Gracewell of Church Crookham joined just months after the care home opened. Jenny added:
“When I joined Gracewell of Church Crookham, they welcomed me so warmly straight away. Instantly we felt like one big family. As more residents moved in, our family grew bigger.
“Gracewell of Church Crookham has been really supportive of my career development. I started as a housekeeper, then worked on the reception and now I am the Home Administrator.
“Celebrating six years of Gracewell of Church Crookham was overwhelming and emotional. A group of our team and the residents at the end of the party spoke about all the people that we have had the pleasure of meeting here. The stories we shared made us laugh and brought tears to our eyes.
“We have loved every minute of it… Can’t wait until our seventh birthday party.”
