Chesterfield Care Home Bar Built In Tony’s Memory

A BAR has been constructed at a Chesterfield care home after a former resident left money in his Will.

Tony Walsham wanted fellow residents at Springbank House Care Home, on Ashgate Road, to decide what to do with his donation.

A vote led to the decision of building an outdoors bar for residents and their family members to enjoy.

Tony, who lived at Springbank House for almost two years, passed away earlier this year aged 91.

His best friend at the home, 95-year-old Trevor Anstey gave a speech at the opening of Tony’s bar to commemorate his pal.

Karen Busby, home manager at Springbank House Care Home, said: “Trevor’s speech about Tony and his donation was very moving – it brought to tear to everyone’s eyes at the opening ceremony.

“We had a great attendance of friends and family to mark the occasion. Thanks to Tony, they now have an outdoors bar in our garden to enjoy with their loved ones.

“We’re sure Tony would have been delighted with their decision to build a bar. He would’ve enjoyed sharing a tipple with his friends at the home.”
