Cheshire Care Home Takes Part In National Tea Party

Astbury Lodge care home in Ellesmere Port joined the nation for a brew when it took part in this year’s ‘Time for a Cuppa’ campaign in support of Dementia UK.

Residents at the Croftwood Care-run home enjoyed an afternoon of high tea in the company of friends and family, complete with bone china tea sets, homemade scones and clotted cream. The scrumptious tea and scones were followed by a tea dance led by six members of a local dance group, who invited onlookers to join them in a traditional waltz.

‘Time for a Cuppa’ is a nationwide campaign run by Dementia UK to help increase awareness around dementia, and raise funds to provide expert care and support to people living with or affected by the condition.

Debbie Ellis, Home Manager at Astbury Lodge, commented: “Time for a Cuppa is such a great cause that we wanted to do something really special on the day. I was especially delighted by how many people came along and took part, as we’re always looking to strengthen our ties with the community. Most importantly, the residents thoroughly enjoyed the event, and loved taking afternoon tea with friends and family and getting up to dance along with the professionals!”
