Carer Bests GNR To Benefit Her Residents.
A carer at a care home in Prudhoe has managed to raise more than £300 in support of her residents after tackling the Morrisons Great North Run.
Marissa Ree, who works at Red Brick House care home, which is operated by Akari Care, completed the race in two hours and 28 minutes, in aid of the home’s Residents’ Comfort Fund, which allows for extra treats and contributions towards trips out for residents.
Marissa, who also completed the half marathon in 2014, was joined by her sister, Michelle, for the race and as a result other staff members at Red Brick House have signed up to participate in next year’s event.
Angela Chisholm, home manager at Red Brick House, said: “We are all very proud of Marissa for her generous efforts to support the residents here at the home. She trained extremely hard for the race and recorded an excellent time.
“Marissa is a fantastic colleague, who does her utmost to support our residents, and everyone here at Red Brick House is thankful for her donation, which will result in further treats and trips out for the residents here.”
Based on Victoria Terrace, Red Brick House care home offers nursing care for up to 50 elderly residents.
