Care Home Residents Cheer on Eng-er-land’s Women to Victory!

There were emotional scenes at Chorleywood Beaumont care home in Chorleywood where staff and residents have been celebrating England’s victory over Germany. Staff and residents have been following the action throughout the Euros and getting more and more excited as the lionesses progressed through the tournament. They never dreamt England would go all the way!

There was high tension in the home, many staff and residents couldn’t watch as the women in white battled it out against their accomplished German opponents. Hearts were in mouths as everyone wondered if Sarina’s side could pull it off.

Ramona Stanciu, General Manager at the home, said:
“We have loved watching the Euros, we have watched pretty much all the matches – lots of our residents are footie fans. It has been fantastic to be able to cheer on all the different sides and especially England. The atmosphere in the home was electric tonight, it was wonderful to watch England’s women win and make history, they were absolutely fearless – everyone is on cloud nine!”

Resident, John Walker, commented:
“Oh my goodness, what an amazing match, it was so wonderful to be able to watch it here with all my friends cheering on our girls – they did us proud! I watched with great enthusiasm and wished I had a football rattle we took to games when I was a young man. My nerves were shredded after 90 minutes and then we had to endure extra time but it was worth it!”
