Care Home Residents Celebrate Burns Night with Haggis and Irn Bru

A Fort William care home celebrated all things Scottish during an afternoon of Burns Night activities.

HC-One’s Moss Park invited residents, their families and members of the community in to enjoy an afternoon of entertainment, which included musician Larry Burns and his granddaughter singing Scottish favourites on the guitar and accordion.

Visitors enjoyed an assortment of homemade Scottish delicacies, including Dundee cake, Tunnocks teacakes, Irn Bru and whisky, whilst local priest, Father Roddy, piped in the haggis to everyone’s delight.

Charlie Moore, a resident and chorister with a huge passion for Burns, sang “My Love is like a Red Red Rose” and performed some of Burns’ poetry.

Eileen Kerr, HC-One Care Home Manager at Moss Park, commented: “It was marvellous to see so many people having a great time and celebrating our famous Baird. We’re already looking forward to our next national celebration!”

A total of £40 was also raised for the resident’s fund, which will be spent on activities and day trips in the local community.

Every year the life and work of Scottish poet Rabbie Burns is celebrated around the globe on the Bairds birthday, January 25th.
