Bristol Care Home Receptionist Wins Gold at International Dance Competition

A receptionist from Bristol has won Gold at the 2026 Cheerleading and Dance Worlds in Florida as part of Angels Dance Academy based in Hartcliffe.

Courtney Baldwin, 22, attended the Cheerleading and Dance Worlds in Orlando from 24th to 27th April, where she competed in the Co-ed Hip Hop for team Ada Genesis and All-Female Hip Hop for team Ada Dominion, securing a Gold and Bronze medal.

Courtney, who began dancing at the age of seven, is now a four-time World Champion. Outside of competition, she works as a receptionist at Avon Valley Care Home, part of Avery Healthcare. Her employer supported her journey to the competition by contributing to her competition fees and costumes.

Widely regarded as one of the most prestigious events in competitive dance and cheerleading, The Cheerleading & Dance Worlds, hosted by the International Allstar Federation, brings together elite teams from 25 countries to compete across a range of disciplines, including Hip Hop, Jazz, Pom, Contemporary and Lyrical.

Courtney represented Angels Dance Academy, a Bristol-based academy. Each year, the academy holds highly competitive auditions that attract dancers from across the UK, with only 18 places available on each team.

Speaking about the experience, Courtney said, “I am honoured to be given the chance to dance another year against the best of the best and am forever grateful to Avery Healthcare for helping make this possible by kindly offering sponsorship this season. I have been working at Avon Valley Care Home since the age of 16 and, six years on, my colleagues are some of my biggest supporters. It is such a lovely place to work and I’m thankful for their support.”
