Bournemouth Care Home Residents Don Their Berets For French-Themed Day

French themed-day at Talbot ViewResidents at Care South’s Talbot View care home in Bournemouth were treated to a special activity day at the home recently, designed to celebrate the home of the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre and the Mona Lisa.

Talbot View’s dedicated Activities Coordinator, Mica Keeping, organised a French-themed day of activities – complete with residents’ favourite French foods. Staff dressed up especially for the occasion and the home’s lounge was decorated especially with French flags and photos. The home’s kitchen team pulled out all the stops to make the day a success, serving up fresh hot croissants with a variety of jams for breakfast; a delicious dish of beef bourguignon for lunch, with chocolate crepes for dessert; and finishing with a cheese and wine tasting session.

Staff organised a drawing class for residents, as well as a French-themed general knowledge quiz, featuring questions about everything from Napoleon Bonaparte to current events in France.

Jacqueline Nelson, Manager at Care South’s Talbot View care home, said: “We are so thrilled that the day was such a success with our residents. Mica did a fantastic job of organising it all and the kitchen team served up some fantastic food as usual. Everyone had so much fun and we are already looking forward to coming up with new ideas and trying them out on different themed days for the residents to enjoy. At Care South, we work hard to ensure our residents enjoy the best experiences and work hard to plan events and activity sessions that everyone will enjoy.”
