IMG-20150917-WA0003People living at Stocks Hall, Andrew Smith House, plus family, friends and staff, had the delight of sharing afternoon tea with the Mayor Of Pendle recently.

Councillor Nawaz Ahmed, Mayor of Pendle accompanied by Patricia Judson, the Mayors escort, gave everyone an afternoon to remember.

The Mayor began his visit by chatting to individuals living at the Home, then sharing afternoon tea together,  accompanied by singing and dancing. Finally the Mayor visited one of his former colleagues, Anthony Beckett and his wife Mary. Tony,  now living at Stocks Hall, Andrew Smith House, was a former Town Crier, Councillor and Mayor of Pendle in 2010/2011. He was described as a very active, long serving (over 10 years), valued member of society, who served his local community faithfully. Tony  was presented with  flowers and a signed card from the Mayor and Mayoress of Pendle.

Val Lawson, Manager of the Home said “ We feel very privileged  that the Mayor has chosen to visit Stocks Hall Andrew Smith House. It makes people living here feel very valued and not forgotten.”

The celebratory afternoon was excellent, people living there said that their only criticism was that it went over far too quickly.

Councillor Nawaz Ahmed, Mayor of Pendle said “I have always wanted to visit the Home, to see the life that people are living here. This is one of the best Homes in Pendle. It has been wonderful to see people enjoying life so much.”
