Birthday Celebrations with Visit from Mayor at London Based Bare Home as Resident Turns 104

There was plenty of singing and dancing at a London based care home as a resident turned 104.

Nel Jones, a resident at MHA Lawnfield House, was treated to a great party to celebrate her birthday, which was made even more special thanks to a visit from the Mayor of Brent, Councillor Abdi Aden.

There was plenty of entertainment on the day with a special birthday song courtesy of the Academy of Music and a performance from the Nash Dance Academy, which was a wish from Nel, who along with her husband was a ballroom dancer in her earlier years.

Along with the entertainment there was of course birthday cake, a variety of fresh fruit, pimms and lemonade, prosecco and canapes.

Carmel Collins, activity coordinator said:
“It was a great day and everyone at the home really enjoyed it.

“Nel has always lived in this part of London, she was born and bred here and has always stayed here.

“It was so nice for the Mayor of Brent to come along and join in with the celebrations, and he very kindly bought Nel a bunch of beautiful flowers, a card and a Happy Birthday balloon.

“As per Nel’s request the dancers from the Nash Academy performed an anniversary waltz, which was in memory of her husband and she kept mentioning she wished he was here to see this, which we all thought was very beautiful.

“Her daughter, Helen was with us throughout the day and I am sure she enjoyed the day just as much as the rest of us.

“It really was such a happy, special and festive occasion for Nel and everyone who attended, including our residents, staff, relatives and volunteers.”
