Birthday Celebrations At Leicester Home As Resident Turns 105
There were plenty of celebrations at a Leicester home following the 105th birthday of one of their residents.
Gwen Jackson lives at MHA Aigburth and celebrated her birthday with an intimate party with fellow residents and her niece Siobhan.
Gwen was born in London and lived in Birkenhead and was an art teacher in her younger days.
The highlight of the day was Gwen receiving the telegram from the King, which means she now has one telegram from the King and one from the Queen.
The home decked up a lounge on the Rosedale floor, where Gwen lives with decorations, balloons and banners.
The kitchen staff prepared a birthday cake which was enjoyed by all.
Linsdey Jugovic, senior care assistant said: “We had a great time celebrating Gwen’s birthday here at MHA Aigburth.
“Gwen’s niece Siobhan came to visit her, and we had afternoon tea with cucumber sandwiches, just like they do at Buckingham Palace.
“Gwen is a great character, due to her teaching background, she is always receding the alphabet.
“She knew at some parts of the day it was her birthday and had a huge smile on her face.
“Gwen was in a great mood all day, it was great to see, and we are all very proud to be a part of her day.”
