Beaconsfield Court Residents Enjoy Music, Friendship and a Ladies’ Day Out

Residents at Beaconsfield Court Care Home in Barnard Castle, County Durham, enjoyed a fun-filled day of music, laughter and friendship as they came together for a special entertainment morning followed by a ladies’ outing.

The day began with a visit from local singer Derek, who brought plenty of energy and entertainment to the home with a performance of classic hits from the 1950s and 1960s, including songs made famous by legends such as Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra.

Residents enjoyed singing along, dancing with staff and reminiscing to much-loved songs from the past. The morning was made even more special as residents came together to socialise, enjoy refreshments and share conversations over tea, coffee and cake.

Following the entertainment, a group of residents headed out on a trip to The March Hare in Bishop Auckland for lunch, before enjoying a browse around Home Bargains to pick up some goodies – a trip the team affectionately called a “ladies’ dream”.

The outings have provided a wonderful opportunity for residents to spend time together outside of the home, build friendships and strengthen the bonds they have created with one another.

Minibus Driver David Hodgson said:

“The ladies that came out on the bus trip have been getting to know each other a lot more and what a bond they have created. It is such a lovely thing to see our residents’ making friends and socialising with one another.”

Lauren Storey, Wellbeing Coordinator at Beaconsfield Court, added:

“It’s a pleasure spending time with each resident and it’s always such a laugh when we are out on these trips. It never feels like work when you’re making people happy.”
