Apetito Joins Care Home Residents In 150th Anniversary Celebrations

Singing, dancing and an abundance of summer party food from apetito were among the treats for residents at The Salvation Army’s Youell Court care home, Coventry, as they celebrated the church and charity’s 150th anniversary.

One of the Salvation Army’s 13 homes across the country, the party at Youell Court was the latest in a host of special events throughout the world to mark this historic anniversary.  Both residents and members of the local community were invited to join the celebrations, where they were treated to music from a professional singer, a performance from a local dance school and – naturally – the Salvation Army band.

The lavish buffet provided by apetito included party treats such as ice cream and cake.

“As the provider of delicious meals to residents at Youell Court, we were delighted to lend our support to this very important occasion in the charity’s history.  Celebrations like these are an important opportunity for residents to socialise and food is at the heart of that,” said Ellen Brown, Care Homes Divisional Manager at apetito.

The Salvation Army’s Administration Manager at Youell Court, Michelle Vjestica, added:  “The Salvation Army has made an incredible difference to the lives of those in need over the past 150 years and we’re very proud to be doing our bit to celebrate this heritage with our residents and the wider community.

“As with all Salvation Army care homes, we strive to create a welcoming, positive atmosphere for our residents and celebrations like these are a great opportunity to socialise and share stories, while enjoying some great food and entertainment.”
