Altrincham Home Hosts Intergenerational Sessions To Encourage Community Engagement
An Altrincham home has arranged intergenerational sessions to encourage connections between toddlers and older people.
MHA Handsworth is joining forces with The Together Project and taking part in the Songs and Smiles sessions.
Designed for children aged 0-4, their parents/guardians and older people, Songs & Smiles tackles social isolation through human connection.
The sessions are held every Wednesday at 11am, with instruments, such as eggs with rice in them to develop coordination and participation.

Charlotte Fowke, activity coordinator said:
“The Songs and Smiles sessions are a great way for our residents to feel part of the community.
“All the participants have name tags to encourage communication and it’s a great ice breaker.
“There are different songs every week and it’s been so nice to see how interactive our residents are when the toddlers and their parents visit.
“It’s still early days, but the feedback so far has been very positive, and we are all very happy with the sessions.
“The sessions will last until December 2025, and we are keen to see the same and new faces.
