All That Glitters Is Gold At Kent Care Home With Gatsby Themed Event

Birchwood House, the Tunbridge Wells-based care home, has once again created an afternoon of joyful memories for residents with its Gatsby themed event and open-day. This time the local community, family, and friends were invited, as Birchwood House re-opened its doors to the public. The event brought glamour to the forefront with golden décor, a magician, and live music by Vintage Ruby.

The residents, staff and families stepped out in their favourite outfits and hand-crafted decadent head pieces to match. There was also a flapper dress or two in homage to the classic 1920s style. The Open Day aspect welcomed friends and family of both current and prospective residents to enjoy a sense of life at the care home.

The staff at Birchwood House care home ensured that every detail of the summer celebration was on theme and made the most of the sunny atmosphere. The landscaped gardens of the manor house were dressed in jewel-toned drapery, set amongst art-deco Gatsby banners, balloons, streamers, and champagne towers.

Guests shimmied to the jazz-inspired sounds of the Roaring 20s with a live performance from Vintage Ruby. Adam Smith Magician, member of the Magic Circle and multi-award-winning Magician, also joined the festivities.

Between turns on the dancefloor, residents enjoyed delightful appetisers like cheese trays, finger sandwiches, and icy refreshments.

The care home always seeks to wow its residents at every event it hosts, each carefully put together with the residents at the heart of planning. Events are held several times a year, such as the 1940s Tea Dance and the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party. With its Gatsby inspired event and open day, the afternoon is sure to have left a lasting impression on all who attended.

Claire Tye, deputy manager of Birchwood House, comments, “Holding our Gatsby themed summer event has been truly magical for all of our residents and staff here at Birchwood House. Vintage Ruby truly set a magical 1920s inspired soundtrack.”

She adds, “It’s been fabulous opening the doors to both the local community and residents’ families for a day of Gatsby-themed fun. Seeing everyone come together whilst having such fun was touching. I’m so proud of the team here at Birchwood House for all they do. The home looked amazing and so did all of the guests, it was a lovely opportunity to show the prospective community what we have to offer. ”
