Age UK Training Introduces New Care Certificate Solution

ageUK1National training provider, Age UK Training, has introduced a new learning solution in response to the recent changes in care industry standards and the introduction of the Care Certificate in April this year. The online tool supports workers in the care sector by offering them an easy-to-use, web-based assessment and evidence monitoring system.

Age UK Training has developed the online tool in response to a number of enquiries from the care sector and those whose work involves direct contact with older people. The solution is designed to enable care workers to meet the new standards set out in the Care Certificate – which aims to ensure the workforce provides care that is always compassionate and dignified.

Ideal for workers who are new to the care sector, as well as to staff looking to refresh or improve their knowledge and practice, the Care Certificate solution from Age UK Training combines online learning with the required practical assessments, so care workers can fully evidence the standards required.

Making the training easy and effective, the 15 standards outlined in the Care Certificate are broken down into assessment areas against which the user can check their knowledge and understanding through online tests. New staff test their knowledge against all assessment areas, while more experienced workers can select an option to ‘Top Up’ their existing knowledge via modules specially designed for those at this stage in their careers.

The results can be accessed and referenced by employers in order to identify areas for improvement and to record progress, helping to ensure any future learning is relevant to individual needs. In order to pass an assessment area observations of real work and practical evaluations are required so workers can show they meet the required Care Certificate competencies.

Jeremy Greathead, Head of Training, at Age UK, comments; “Age UK Training recognises the urgent need to improve the quality of care for those in later life and for the people supporting them, and we are delighted to be able to introduce our new online Care Certificate training solution to help achieve this. This new system has been designed to support care professionals who are looking to achieve the new sector standards, with the ultimate aim of improving the quality of care offered to older people.”

The Care Certificate solution from Age UK Training can be accessed via PC, laptop and smart phone, and has been created using simple software, making it straightforward for users to navigate between online assessments, communicate with employers and record progress. Users will also benefit from a customer support system, available during office hours by calling 0330 024 6070 or emailing trainingteam@ageuk.org.uk.

Employers can choose to receive notifications when staff complete assessments, ensuring that they are kept up to date with their progress. Results are easy to access, meaning users can create a summary of their progress and can continually monitor their achievements in order to advance their professional development.

With over 60 years training experience, Age UK Training is one of the UK’s top health and social care specialist training providers, delivering training and quality accreditations and standards on a wide range of topics linked to ageing.
