A Tale From The Manor

The beginnings of Tea From The Manor is a delightfully simple story. The proprietor, James Green was in the 3rd Royal Horse Artillery in the Army where he spent many years in active service. Spending time in Northern Ireland, Cyprus and Hong Kong. It was while in Hong Kong, stationed with the Ghurkhas, he learnt all about tea. A passion that has stayed with him for many years. 

 James began Tea From The Manor in 2011 when, along with his daughter Charlotte, they took a few different flavoured teas to a farmer’s market. Over a decade later we have grown as a company, bringing you the finest full leaf teas from the best tea gardens around the world. We provide loose leaf, tea bags and tea envelopes along with accessories such as tea presentation boxes and tea pots. 

 We supply the finest restaurants, cafes, garden centres and care homes all across the UK.

Recently Tea From The Manor was awarded the Best Initiative in Care Award at the 2025 Caring UK Awards for its development of tea specially created for people who have dysphagia. 

Four different flavours have been produced to provide a wide range of flavours for residents with dysphagia. Green Tea and Mint, Red Berry, English Breakfast and Earl Grey are all on the menu, giving residents of care homes a diverse selection. With the herbal and fruit tea options being decaffeinated, this further adds to a varied choice for residents.

Although making a drink which would be safe and nutritious for residents with dysphagia was vital, making sure that it tasted nice and would be a drink that could be enjoyed was of equal importance.

With decades of experience in tasting and developing the finest teas, James was able to bring his knowledge and passion to the process.

“I was particularly excited by this project in terms of finding flavours that would work well with the thickening agents used in drinks. We tried a lot of combinations to get every blend just right. Residents each have their own taste memory so we wanted to make sure we could represent as many of them as we could.”
