A Royal Celebration At The New Deanery And St Mary’s Court Care Homes

_royal-celebrationResidents and staff from The New Deanery and St Mary’s Court residential care homes in Bocking marked the Queen’s 90th Birthday with a glorious garden party set in the homes’ stunning 10 acre grounds.

The event, held on the 11 June, was a real celebration with those attending enjoying a British spread of tea, cakes, scones and of course salmon and cucumber sandwiches.

Jo Crosby, Head of Activities at The New Deanery and St Mary’s Court, said: “It was lovely to see so many people come along to celebrate the Queens 90th Birthday and was fantastic to see everyone enjoying themselves, despite the typical British weather.

“The Queen was in attendance, in the form of a cardboard cut out, and singer Alison Austin entertained us all with patriotic songs for two wonderful hours. Everyone really got into the spirit of the day and I’d like to say thank you to my great team who set everything up in the rain and never lost faith. A great day was had by all.”

Tommy Batchelor, whose parents Becky and Terry Batchelor are residents, said: “It really was a lovely day, it was very well planned and all of the staff were excellent and very friendly. It really is a lovely place to be.”

Over the past few months the teams at The New Deanery and St Mary’s Court have had great successes. St Mary’s Court was praised in its latest CQC inspection with the home now rated as ‘good’ overall with a rating of ‘outstanding’ for leadership.

The teams at the homes also beat off fierce competition from across England to triumph in the category of Most Effective Approach to Leadership and Management, at the Skills for Care Accolades awards and also picked up The Care Home Nutrition and Hydration Award for the East of England Region at The Great British Care Awards.
