A Rising Star At Riverdale Court
Nicolas Kee Mew, Home Manager at Riverdale Court, Welling, has been selected to join an exciting programme to develop young managers in social care. The Rising Star Programme is a Leadership Development Programme for Registered Managers in Social Care run by the National Care Forum.
The Rising Star programme was launched in 2017 and is an initiative created to develop leadership skills through mentoring and learning opportunities. NCF members are invited to nominate managers each year and ten are selected to participate in this unique programme.
Since Nicolas joined Riverdale Court, owned and operated by Avante Care & Support, he has been the pioneer behind community engagement including working with the Salvation Army, local churches and dementia support groups. Recently, residents took part in the community litter pick up scheme around Welling town centre, which not only enhanced community engagement with the residents but was also a great form of exercise. Nicolas has also been an innovator with the successful introduction to Riverdale Court of Lingotots, a club that teaches languages to over 15,000 pre-school children. Lingotots meet weekly at Riverdale Court, with residents and pre-schoolers learning new languages together.
Nicolas and the team have also recently celebrated becoming finalists in three categories in the Bexley Business Excellence Awards – Best Employer, Best Charity and Best Food & Beverages.
Nicolas Kee Mew says, ‘I am delighted to have been chosen to be part of this year’s Rising Star programme and look forward to being mentored by inspirational industry leaders, enriching and developing my skills from staff management, to media training and harnessing technology. I look forward to taking back everything I learn and sharing this with my team at Riverdale Court.
The NCF Rising Stars Programme is supported by a number of NCF Partners. The programme will be launched at the NCF Annual Conference where the NCF Rising Stars attend free of charge with the support of Carterwood and they will join the NCF team and their mentors at a dedicated lunch.
