Braintree Care Home Residents and Staff Go ‘Pink’ to Help Combat Cancer
Residents and staff at RMBI Care Co. Home Prince Edward Duke of Kent Court, in Braintree, Essex, have joined forces to raise money for Breast Cancer Now, a charity that provides research and life-changing care for people affected by breast cancer.
Around 55,000 women and 400 men are diagnosed with the disease every year in the UK, according to the breast cancer charity. So staff at the care home organised a ‘pink’ themed afternoon tea party to highlight the importance of checking your chest regularly, and to attend regular screening appointments. They raised over £100 in donations from the event.
Michelle Sims, Home Manager at Prince Edward Duke of Kent Court, said: “Going pink was a really fun way for our Home to do something positive for a cause that we really care about. The afternoon provided an opportunity for everyone to socialise, share experiences and show support for this important cause.”
