New £6.2m Home Brings Much Needed Specialist Care to Walsall Community

Exemplar Health Care has announced the opening of its newest care home, Shire Oaks Court, in Walsall. The official opening follows a formal registration visit by the Care Quality Commission, the regulator of health and care services in England.

The new £6.2m state of the art home will provide specialist nursing care for adults living with complex care needs, including: mental health needs, dementia, neuro-disabilities, and physical disabilities.

Shire Oaks Court’s nursing care enables residents to stay in the community, be closer to friends and family, whilst reducing pressure on local hospital capacity.

The home has 30 large bedrooms, each with an ensuite wet room, split in to three units. With this small group living model, Exemplar Health Care has found it can provide a far more homely and supportive environment that’s more responsive to people’s needs.

The home also features communal dining and living spaces, an activities hub, a therapy room, salon and a large accessible garden, ensuring that residents can enjoy a full and varied lifestyle. There will also be dedicated treatment rooms for the in-house Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist
