Brunelcare’s Home Recognised For Exceptional Dementia Care

Brunelcare’s Deerhurst Care & Nursing home have been awarded the Dementia Care Matters Quality of Life award, for the fourth year running and more importantly, achieved the highest level, ‘Level 1’ for exceptional person-centred dementia care.

This is an exceptional result because, according to Dementia Care Matters, only 1% of care homes within the UK achieve a ‘Level 1’ distinction.

Deerhurst is a Dementia Care Matters Butterfly Service home, meaning they are achieving a recognised national standard in dementia care, providing person-centred and relationship focused dementia care. Care workers in ‘Butterfly Homes’ ensure people have a good daily quality of life which, when added to a stimulating environment, gives people a sense of purpose. This results in increased life expectancy, improved well-being and happiness.

The Dementia Care Matters team who awarded Deerhurst the ‘Level 1’ rating said:
