Wish Comes True As Joan, 92, Goes For A Spin In A BMW Convertible

Joan, 92, Goes For A Spin In A BMW ConvertibleA WISH came true for fast car enthusiast Joan Reese when a Dorset care home arranged a special trip in a BMW convertible.

The 92-year-old had told staff at Colten Care’s The Aldbury in Poole that she wanted to “feel the wind in my hair.”

Activity organiser Sarah Ingram passed the request to her boyfriend, Antonio Wellman, a sales executive with Ridgeway Bournemouth BMW.

His bosses generously allowed him to arrive at the care home in a £30,000 BMW 2 series convertible.

With Antonio at the wheel, Joan, a resident at The Aldbury since 2011, was given a ten minute spin, accompanied by Sarah.

“Fantastic,” was Joan’s verdict on the trip.

She added: “I’d be very happy for Antonio to be my personal driver. It was very enjoyable.”

Antonio said: “Joan seemed to love going out in the car. She kept saying how much she was enjoying the ride.

“At Ridgeway Bournemouth BMW we like to support our local community so we were only too pleased to help out on this occasion.”

Sarah thanked Ridgeway Bournemouth BMW for the loan of the car and her boyfriend, Antonio, for acting as Joan’s chauffeur.

“Joan hasn’t stopped talking about the trip. It really made her day,” Sarah added.

The Aldbury is one of 19 quality care and dementia homes owned and operated by Colten Care in Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire.
