£5.7m Specialist Care Home Officially Opens In Stockton

Exemplar Health Care has marked the official opening of Tees Grange, its brand new £5.7m care home in Stockton-on-Tees.

Cutting the ribbon to Stockton’s newest care home was the Mayor of Stockton-on-Tees, Cllr Ross Patterson. The Mayor remarked on the substantial need for specialist care facilities in the local area, and commended Exemplar Health Care’s commitment to the region.

Tees Grange is the care provider’s first specialist care home in County Durham, with another under construction in Bishop Auckland.

Tees Grange, located in Norton in Stockton-on-Tees, specialises in supporting adults living with complex mental health needs and neuro-disabilities including Huntington’s disease and Parkinson’s disease. Without Tees Grange, residents – who have complex and challenging care needs – would otherwise have a pro-longed stay in hospital, away from their family and friends.

Split in to three, ten-bed communities – as small group living provides a more homely, supportive, and responsive care environment – each of the 30 bedrooms has its own ensuite wet room.

Each unit has a communal dining room, lounge, quiet lounge and a sensory bathroom. In addition, there is an activities hub, an accessible garden, hair salon and a therapy room providing a dedicated space for rehabilitation.

The home has created 100 new healthcare jobs in the local area, and unlike many local care homes, will feature a multi-disciplinary healthcare team.
