Paisley Care Home Hosts ‘Braemount’s Got Talent’

A Paisley care home hit all the right notes when it invited members of the local community along for its inaugural ‘Braemount’s Got Talent’.

Bupa’s Braemount Care Home, on Donaldswood Road, encouraged residents, staff and members of the local community to come along for an afternoon of light hearted entertainment.

Taking inspiration from the Eurovision Song Contest, the afternoon had a European theme with decorations throughout the home. But it wasn’t an afternoon of just singing as the home welcomed all talents – no matter how little or obscure.

Sitting in for Cowell and co. the judges were MSP George Adam, MSP Mhairi Black, Home Manager, Rebecca Gallagher and Resident Experience Manager, Alice Hutchinson.

Together, the judges crowned resident Fay Melrose the winner of the talent show, thanks to her impressive rendition of ‘One Day At A Time’.

Fiona Glenn, Activities Coordinator at Bupa’s Braemount Care Home, said: “The residents had a fantastic time and really enjoyed some friendly competition.

“Events like these really help our residents socialise and they love a sing along as well.”

There was a range of acts such as Nethercraig Unit’s Abba tribute band, Gordon Roy, a member of the kitchen staff performed a comedy act and local children from Nursery Times treated the audience to Cyndi Lauper’s ‘True Colours’.

Fiona added: “We invited members of the local area to join us as we always like to welcome everyone along to our events to ensure our residents remain connected to the community.

“The judges had a very hard time picking a winner as all the acts were top class, but it was Fay’s beautiful singing that won them over in the end.”
