Dorset House Residents Welcome ‘Billy’ The Alpaca

Care South’s Dorset House in Hamworthy, Poole, recently welcomed ‘Billy’ an adorable alpaca for an activity afternoon at the home. Alpaca Adventure, local company based on the Wiltshire/ Dorset border visited the home with halter trained ‘Billy’.

Several bags of carrots kept the alpaca happy while the residents enjoyed feeding and stroking them. The alpaca was extremely well behaved in the home’s gardens, and kept the residents entertained discussing that alpacas were apart of the camel family.

Joan Nickson, Home Manager at Care South’s Dorset House, commented: “This was the first time we have welcomed Alpaca Adventure to the home and what an afternoon it was. The residents thoroughly enjoyed learning about Billy, stroking him and finding out some alpaca facts. We look forward to welcoming them back to Dorset House soon!”
