Witney Care Home Celebrates the Jubilee with a Virtual Walk to Buckingham Palace

Madley Park House, run by the Orders of St John Care Trust (OSJCT) is organising a fundraising virtual walk from the care home in Witney to Buckingham Palace on Friday 3 June, as part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations. Team members, residents and visitors will share the 68-mile journey on a treadmill in the home.

The challenge aims to raise funds to go towards the purchase of a ‘Magic Table’, a digital touch-screen device which allows users to play interactive games, both individually and as part of a group. The cutting-edge product has been proven to encourage social and physical stimulation with specific benefits for those with a diagnosis of dementia.

Madley Park House will also be holding a Jubilee Party in honour of Her Majesty The Queen on Friday 3 June for residents, their friends and family members and employees.

The idea for the fundraising walk came from Home Manager Niki Rowlands and Activities Coordinator Sian Standbridge. Niki said: “We wanted to do something fun for the Jubilee and walking to Her Majesty’s London home seemed like a worthwhile challenge that lots of people could get involved in. We are all looking forward to a big party on the day and everyone is welcome to contribute to the walk, whether that’s a few steps or a few miles.”
