Wembley Based Care Home Gets Support in Form of Volunteer Day from Local Construction Firm

A Wembley based care home were the beneficiaries of a volunteer day courtesy of a local construction firm.

MHA Kenbrook were approached by Careys Group Ltd, a construction firm who as part of their volunteer day, renovated the garden at the home by painting all the garden benches and picnic tables.

The home provides 24-hour specialist nursing and dementia care for up to 51 older people.

Marian O’Hara, home manager said: “We received a call from Careys who said they wanted to work in the community and there was a decision made by those in charge to support care homes.

“We were more than happy to receive their help and they did an amazing job.

“They purchased the paint to do the garden furniture and also did some repair work.

“Luckily the weather was nice and the residents really enjoyed the interaction with the volunteers.

“The volunteers were all amazing, I want to give a huge thanks to Careys and look forward to working with them again in the future.”

Katherine Hunter, one of the volunteers from Careys said: “I got involved in the volunteer day because I think it is important to give back to the community.

“MHA Kenbrook was such a welcoming place, you can tell instantly the staff are committed to looking after the residents, giving them a happy life away from their family home.

“Helping others, even in a small way gives a sense of satisfaction and makes me feel that I have helped in some way.

“The residents can enjoy sitting in the garden now or on rainy days look out the window to a colourful, tidy area!”
