Watford Care Home Residents Learn To “Bee” More Conscious On World Bee Day

To mark World Bee Day in May, residents and staff at RMBI Care Co. Home Prince Michael of Kent Court, in Watford, have recently enjoyed a fun-filled week of bee-themed activities. Residents and staff got involved in creating a bee piñata using environmentally friendly materials including recycled paper and string. The bee piñata was filled with sustainably sourced chocolate honeycomb.

The staff shared lots of information to create awareness about the importance of bees, and everyone learned about the different varieties of bees and their jobs in the hive.

Beverley Roberts, Home Manager at Prince Michael of Kent Court, says:
“We are doing our bit for bees in particular and the environment in general. Everyone had a great time making the piñata and had the opportunity to learn more about the environment and little changes we can make each day to help bees in our local areas to thrive.”

The UN designated 20 May as World Bee Day to raise awareness of the importance of bees and other pollinators, the threats they face, and their contribution to a sustainable environment.
