Walnut Care Buys Hundreds Of Advent Calendars To Help Team Keep Track Of COVID-19 Testing Kits

Walnut Care at Home has come up with a sweet way to ensure their staff remember to carry out their at-home COVID-19 testing kits.

CEO Melanie Weatherley MBE and Managing Director David Weatherley have purchased hundreds of advent calendars for their 200-plus team of care workers, to remind them of the dates they need to send off their tests.

The Langrick based domiciliary care provider have received their tests and have begun to distribute four weeks’ worth of kits to their staff, along with their advent calendars.

Melanie said: “We’re very excited that home care workers are going to be tested weekly moving forward, and that the health of our staff is being given the same consideration as care home workers.”

“Testing will give both our team and those they care for peace of mind, assuring that they do not have COVID-19 without them knowing.”

After receiving four weeks’ worth of tests from their employer, home care workers will need to take a COVID-19 test once a week between Thursday and Sunday. The tests must be administered, registered online and posted on the same day via a Royal Mail priority box.

David added: “Weekly testing is a big ask, but care workers are happy to do it to keep their service users safe.

“The advent calendars are a gift to show the team our appreciation, but come with the added benefit of helping them to track the days so they don’t miss a test.

“We’re grateful to have such a dedicated workforce who always go the extra mile for those they care for, and we like to make sure they know how much we value their hard work – not just at Christmas or during a pandemic, but all-year-round.”
