Violet’s 100th Birthday Celebrated With Family And Friends

FAMILY and friends turned out to mark Violet Kenrick’s century of birthdays.

The centenarian was joined by four generations of her family, from children to great grandchildren, for a celebration at Simonsfield Care Home, in Runcorn, Cheshire.

An Elvis impersonated performed for the party, when fellow residents joined Violet to watch the show.

Violet was born on 25th February 1919 in Widnes, Cheshire.

She worked for British chemical company ICI in the town, where she met husband to be Richard Kenrick.

They married in 1940 at St Paul’s Church, in Widnes, and had 69 years of happy marriage, until Richard passed away in 2008.

The pair used to enjoy ballroom dancing and would often enter competitions at Butlins resorts around the country.

They have three children, Pat Abram, Barbara Blain and Geoff Kenrick, six grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Violet said: “The secret to a long and happy life is good home cooked food and lots and lots of happiness.”

Debbie Smith, home manager at Simonsfield Care Home, said: “It was such a lovely celebration to mark Violet’s 100th birthday. What an amazing milestone.

“The residents and staff at Simonsfield Care Home all wished her well and it was so nice to see so many generations of her family as well.”
