Vintage Wheels Roll Into Care Home For Spectacular Classic Car Show
A care home near Durham revved up the excitement over the weekend by hosting a classic car show featuring vehicles from bygone eras.
Paddock Stile Manor in Houghton-le-Spring showcased 15 vintage cars, welcoming the people of the home, friends, families and the local community to enjoy the display.
The home is part of the Orchard Care Homes group, which runs 23 care homes in the Midlands and the North. Paddock Stile Manor and other homes in the group frequently organise events like this to provide personalised care experiences for the people who live in their homes.
Some of the highlights of the show were a 1962 Ford Cortina Mark 1, 1972 Ford Granada 2.8, 1959 Austin Morris Mini City 1330, 1967 Ford Escort 1.6 Sport, 1938 Morris 8 Tourer and 1962 AC Cobra.
On top of that there was a collection of modified modern cars such as a Nissan GTR, Mazda MX5, BMW 3-series E36 and many more.
Marjorie Prest, who lives at Paddock Stile Mannor said:
“All these cars are just wonderful! My favourite is the brown Ford Cortina.”
George Calvert, who also lives at the home added:
“This an incredible afternoon; to be able to see cars from when I was young in such great condition is so special.”
Julie Thompson, Home Manager said:
“It was a fun afternoon with everyone here thoroughly enjoying seeing these beautifully kept cars, which brought back many happy memories for our people, of cars they owned or saw on the streets when they were young.”
