Unique ‘Understanding Dementia Course’ at Hamble Heights
Hamble Heights, the Southampton care home in luxury living, uniquely offers specialist support and comfort to families and friends of residents through its exclusive new training course, “Understanding Dementia”.
The “Understanding Dementia” course, run by Hamble Heights Training Coordinator, invites the relatives and friends of residents to attend a free two-day programme that explores dementia and explains what happens to the brains of those living with the condition.
The course rationalises the reasons why loved ones with dementia behave the way they do in order to help relatives begin to comprehend the condition and visualise day-to-day occurrences from the perspective of someone living with dementia. This original course provides invaluable information – ensuring it is not just the residents that receive support from the staff at Hamble Heights but also the affected families and friends.
CEO David Hines commented, “Dementia is in the news almost every day – it is such an issue for today’s ageing population. That is why I am proud that Hamble Heights plays such an important part in enriching the lives of our residents as well as helping take greater steps forward in understanding how best to care for those affected by Dementia.”
