They Shore Love A Fete At Kingfishers Care Home

Residents at Colten Care’s Kingfishers care home shore had a great time at their beach themed fete.

Everyone at the New Milton home embraced the coastal concept, wearing floral clothes and Hawaiian Lei garlands, before feasting on strawberries and cream, cakes and glasses of Pimms.

Kingfishers was rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) following an inspection in May 2017.

The home organises a huge array of fundraising events, with all proceeds going to a charity chosen each year by residents.

This year’s charity of the year is the Bramshaw branch of the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA), which gives riding therapy to disabled adults and children.

Stalls dotted around the fete included cakes, plants and one selling the residents’ own homemade pickles, strawberry jams, jewellery and crafts.

Games included guessing the weight of a cake made by Chef Chris and how many sweets were in a huge jar, donated by home manager Beata Brzozowska.

Activity organiser Rose Arcellana said: “The fete raised an amazing £467.85, which I know the charity will be absolutely thrilled with, and jolly good fun was had by all.”
